Support How can we help?
Tallies is intentionally small. Most questions can be answered in the FAQ below. If you don't find what you need, send a note.
i.Frequently asked
How do I add a tally?
From the home screen, tap any item row to open its tally canvas. Then swipe vertically in the bottom area marked "swipe to mark." Each swipe draws a single felt-marker stroke. Five strokes form a complete tally group.
How do I undo a mark?
On the tally canvas, tap the Undo button at the bottom. Or long-press any historical mark in the grid to delete that specific one.
How do I add a journal?
From the home screen, tap the book icon in the top-right to open Settings. Tap New Journal. Give it a name and create. Then add items inside it the same way.
Does Tallies sync across my devices?
On iPhone and iPad, yes. If you're signed into iCloud on multiple Apple devices, Tallies syncs automatically using your private iCloud account. There's no separate account or login. Sync usually takes a few seconds. On Android, Tallies keeps everything on the phone and doesn't sync, including with an iPhone. If Android backup is turned on, your data comes back when you set up a new phone.
How do I add the home-screen widget?
On iPhone, long-press an empty area of your home screen, tap the + in the top-left, scroll or search for Tallies, and choose either the small Tally widget (one item) or the large Journal widget (a whole journal). After adding, tap the widget and select Edit Widget to choose which item or journal to display. Tapping the widget opens the app directly to that item. On Android, touch and hold an empty area of your home screen, tap Widgets, find Tallies, and drag the Tally or Journal widget into place. You choose the item or journal as you add it.
Why don't the tallies on my widget update right away?
On iPhone and iPad, iOS controls how often widgets refresh: typically every 15 to 30 minutes for battery reasons. The widget always shows the latest data when iOS refreshes it. To force a refresh, tap the widget once (which opens the app) and the widget reloads. On Android, the widget updates when you add or undo a tally.
I bought the unlock on my iPhone. Does it unlock Tallies on Android?
No. The App Store and Google Play handle purchases separately, so the unlock is bought once on each. Within one store it carries over: reinstalling, or using another device signed in to the same account, restores it.
Can I export my data?
Not in this version. Export to PDF or CSV is on the roadmap.
Will there be reminders or notifications?
No. Tallies is intentionally a quiet app. We don't believe a habit tracker should nag you.
Will there be streaks?
No. Streaks pull the experience toward gamification. Tallies is meant to feel like a notebook, not a game.
